Girl Talk is a narrative poem about what happens when you spend years searching yourself for a flaw that was never yours to carry.
Told through the imagery of mirrors and reflection, this piece sits beside the moment a person realizes they have spent years looking for evidence against themselves.
It is for the people who learned to shrink first.
The people who learned to apologize first.
The people who became so good at looking okay that nobody noticed how much they were carrying.
Created from my home to yours, Girl Talk sits beside the moment a person finally stops asking what is wrong with them and begins questioning why they believed it in the first place.
Because sometimes the hardest thing to recognize is not the wound.
It is the voice that grew around it.
The voice that followed us home.
The voice we eventually mistook for our own.
And sometimes healing begins the moment we realize the crack was never ours to carry.
A story about looking for something broken and discovering you were never the thing that needed fixing.
